What does “year gone” mean?
How much of the year is gone?
The number above is the fraction of your current local calendar year that has elapsed, updated every second.
How is the percentage calculated?
Elapsed time since local midnight on January 1 is divided by the real elapsed time between that instant and local midnight next January 1. The result is multiplied by 100.
How many days are left this year?
The live count shows full calendar days that begin after today. Today is kept separate because part of it has already happened.
Does it handle leap years?
Yes. Leap years contain 366 marks, including February 29; ordinary years contain 365.
Why does local time matter?
New Year arrives at different instants around the world. Your browser supplies local calendar boundaries without location permission or a network request.
What about daylight saving time?
The calculation uses actual timestamps for both local year boundaries. It does not assume every year is exactly 365 or 366 sets of 24 hours.
